History Of Internet
The internet is a
collection of millions of computer around the world that are connected to one
anther
It is a global network
of computer. These computers are connected with each other through different
telecommunication links like phone line, fiber optics line, satellites and
wireless connection. The internet is used to find the information stored on
computer called hosts or servers that are the part of internet. These computers
are using a common protocol called TCP/IP (transmission control
protocol/internet protocol) for communication. Each computer connected to
internet can act as host. A host computer provides information to people. More than
one half millions user in the world use the internet for different purposes.
History of
internet:
The work on
internet was started in 1960s during cold war of Russia and America. America
wanted to communicate with his armed forces. The network of 4 computers was
developed in the beginning for this purpose.
ARPANET:
During the
cold war Russia launched sputnik and America development a network known as
ARPA. ARPA worked on a project to send information to armed forces alt long
distances. Different organization and universities also involved in research.
Paul Baron:
In 1964 Paul
Baron published a paper on distributed communication networks. It was the
theoretical idea for transfer it include Digital Packets and Routes for data
transfer.
NCP
Protocol:
Protocol is a
collection of rules in 1970s; NCP (network control protocol) was developed. It
was first standard protocol for data transfer.
DARPA:
DARPA stands for
defense advanced Research project Agency. It was a new name of ARPA. Now 37 computers
were connected together. DARPA started works to shear data not only on single
network but also among different networks. Stanford Research Institute took
part in research.
TCP/IP:
A team of
standard Research institute developed a protocol called TCP/IP .it stands for
transmission control protocol/internet protocol. It was designed for to shear a
data among different computers.
BITNET &
CSNET:
BITNET stands for
because its time network and CSNET stands for computer science Network. These
were established for non military persons. These networks were for academic and
research purpose.IBM and university computer are connected together.
Worldwide
network:
Soon the idea of
internet comes out .different University and research institutes started work
on global network. In 1986 NSFNet was developed. It connected academic
researched of different counties together.
Internet:
Internet is now
largest network in the world. Millions of computer are connected together
through a different mediums people can share information, data. Any
computer with a modem and telephone-line become a part of internet.
